Kjell Mardon Gunvaldsen (1950- 2003) var norsk billedkunstner, tekstilkunstner og skulptør.
Gunvaldsen utførte flere offentlige arbeider, blant annet på Rikshospitalet i Oslo og skoler og barnehager flere steder i landet. Kristiansand kommune har flere verk av Gunvaldsen i sin samling. Både større verk som fontenen øverst i Markens og tekstilverk i offentlige bygg.
Krigsminnesmerke over flygere ble reist i 1995 i Strandpromenaden . Det er tilegnet norske og allierte flybesetninger som opererte på den norske sydvestkysten i årene 1940-45. Skulpturen består av en propell fra et fly, montert på en buet form av betong. Den er plassert på det stedet Marinens flystasjon i Kristiansand var lokalisert fra 1918 - 1940. Selve flypropellen stammer fra et De Havilland DH 98 to-motors bombefly som ble hentet opp fra 300 meters dyp i norskerenna utenfor Egersund. Minnesmerket er en gave fra Royal Air Force (RAF).
Minnesmerket ble flyttet i forbindelse med bygging av Aquarama.
Kjell Mardon Gunvaldsen (1950-2003) was a Norwegian visual artist, textile artist, and sculptor.
Gunvaldsen executed several public works, including those at Rikshospitalet in Oslo, as well as schools and kindergartens in various parts of the country. Kristiansand municipality has several works by Gunvaldsen in its collection, including larger works like the fountain at the top of Markens Street and textile works in public buildings.
War Memorial for Aviators was erected in 1995 on Strandpromenaden. It is dedicated to Norwegian and Allied aircrews who operated on the Norwegian southwest coast during the years 1940-45. The sculpture consists of a propeller from an aircraft mounted on a curved concrete form. It is located at the site of the Naval Air Station in Kristiansand, which was operational from 1918 to 1940. The aircraft propeller itself comes from a De Havilland DH 98 twin-engine bomber retrieved from a depth of 300 meters in the Norwegian Trench off Egersund. The memorial is a gift from the Royal Air Force (RAF).
The memorial was relocated during the construction of Aquarama.
